ZOORAMA

During a week-long school trip to the Dordogne, and a visit to a prehistoric wildlife park, Mathias de Lattre took his first photographs with a disposable camera given to him by his mother. At ten years old, he does not judge what he sees, nor does he distinguish; he simply perceives. In a sense, his gesture is pure, free of calculation. By questioning the origins of our gaze, the series Zoorama captures an initial — even inaugural — experience. The innocence revealed here through the eyes of a Year 6 pupil offers a lesson to us all: what more is there to learn than to remain true to the visions of our childhood? »
